About the author

Anemone Rüger, born in Chemnitz in 1974, works in public communications and project management. She has concerned herself with German-Jewish history for more than 20 years, eventually adding a Polish dimension as part of her research. After her interpreting studies at the University of Heidelberg and one-year stays abroad in Israel and the Ukraine, she worked at U.S. military bases in Hanau and Wiesbaden, serving as the chief of Public Affairs for 11 years. She is currently developing a sponsorship program for impoverished Holocaust survivors and seniors in Ukraine, while at the same time continuing to serve as an interpreter and author.

She studied thousands of archival documents for this book, recovering the stories of many survivors in Israel and researching the Jewish history of their respective Polish hometowns.
